There are many gyms in the city - of different quality, price, location. But not that many are "all included" ones.
on Pushkinskaya 47/49 (right next to Coffee Life on m.Architektora Beketova)
A new gym with many new equipment. Its cosy but clean. No smell. The price is fair - 300 UAH per month (unlimited). Nice clean showers. Very good trainers Vika, Vitaliy and Alexandr who are there to help you with whatever you need. The biggest disadvantage is the absence of treadmills.
on Pushkinskiy V'iezd (st.m. Puskinskaya) is small, have all necessary equipment and good location. The price in 2008 was 250 UAH per month. We were not able to visit it because of the smell..
on Sumskaya 85 (about 15 minutes of fast walk from Park Gorkogo). It includes swimming pool, gym, sauna. The price... well the price depends on how rich (oh how much foreigner) you look. For our friends it was 6500 UAH per person. When we came to see the complex, a nice lady showed the place around and once we were ready to pay ...she told us the price of 8500 UAH per person per year even if we buy 2 subscriptions. Well, it might not be that big money but WHY they think that IF YOU SPEAK ENGLISH YOU ARE STUPID? We told that we need to think about this more and left. One week later another friend of us went there and got the price of 6500 UAH. What a greedy world.
This gym is located at Lyudvig Svoboda prospect , 60 (near "Metro" superstore). Phone #8-057 773-25-06.
We've not been there ourselves however can trust opinion of another expat who states that this is an "excellent Gym, my Trainer Andre speaks good English as do a couple of the girl receptionists. Andre is an ex Ukraine Weight Lifting Champion. There are fitness classes, swimming pool, Cafe etc."
Fitness center at metro Arkhitectora Beketova (Pushkinskaya, 44, 706-45-20, 706-45-90, 706-45-80)
We are visiting the gym there. Its costs 430 UAH per month for an unlimited account. 200 UAH - if you go 2 times a week. 200 UAH- for 2 weeks unlimited. The prices are very flexible. Gym is clean. Trainers are smiling but not helping at all. Shower is working.
on Lermontovskaya (st.m. Pushkinskaya, just before Stargorod) drinks, massage, cosmetic procedures are paid separately. The prices are not overestimated, just fair enough. We recommend their herbal tea - what a nice addition to banya!
Update: They seem to care less and less about customer's satisfaction. Broken showers, dirty water in swimming pool, guests coming with DOGS. Could it be worse?
(needs to be pre ordered at 7178787) For around 90 UAH per hour we got a nice isolated banya with jacuzzi, bedroom, dining room and bathroom. In general we liked the place except for absolutely cold jacuzzi so we advise you to ask owner to make sure that jacuzzi has the right temperature ;)
Expensive and aggressive - that's what we felt when leaving the place. Banya includes small swimming pool, jacuzzi (fortunately, warm), steam and dry saunas, dinning-, bed- and bathrooms. You are not allowed to bring with you even slippers, nor food or drinks, nor towels, nothing. All this must be bought/rented directly from them (which is expensive I must admit). When leaving they will not let you go until check the place, count towels and slippers. We felt criminals which was not worth it.
On the second floor they have a mini-hotel and banya complex. It contains Russian banya itself with a small poll, changing room, big room with table and chairs; poolroom; Finnish sauna. Price is 200/hour + the cost of towels/sheets/food. If you order meals from restaurant downstairs, you will be charged 20% extra for food delivery.. First time we were there banya was hot, meals and beers were delivered fast, Irakli paid a lot of attention to our comfort. Next time we arrived, we asked to not give us sheets/towels and remove their price from our bill so we got a cold banya, slow food and beer delivery, paid usage of poolroom even though we would leave Irakli very good tips every time. Well, It happens :D
are nice additions to the water parks but it is not worth going to aqua-parks because of saunas.
