Sharovka Castle in Kharkov

An ancient homestead castle with a unique history.

The construction of Sharovskoy manor on the bank of the river Merchik had began in the early XIX century. The landowner Pavel Olkhovsky had ordered the construction of the palace and had laid a large park on the slope of a two-kilometer beam. At the end of the XIX century the sugar factory Leopold Koenig was the owner of the castle.
Sharovka attracts tourists not only with beauty, but with all sorts of legends. The most romantic of them is about the love of a sweet-sourer to a beautiful wife. It is rumored that all this beauty was built for her, and even in the winter on the park alleys flowers grew.
Leopold Koenig emigrated to Germany after the revolution of 1917, and the tuberculosis dispensary was placed in the castle. In 2008 all the patients were taken out and disinfected on the estate grounds. Inside the building until not all are allowed, but everyone can get acquainted with the park.

The total area of the park is almost 40 hectares (including 15 hectares of forest, 3 hectares of landscapes, 3.5 hectares of lawns and lawns, 1.65 hectares of ponds and 7 hectares of structures).

How to get there:
Despite the fact that Sharovka is relatively close to Kharkov - just an hour's drive, it's not so easy to get there, and even more difficult to leave in the evening.
Marshrootkas in this direction are sent from the Central Market. But the transport itself Sharovka does not travel, only passing through the main road. So you have to walk a couple of kilometers on foot.
You can buy a ticket for the bus Kharkiv-Krasnokutsk and ask the driver to make a stop near the turn to Sharovka or to get there with private traders.
If you still decide to go your own way, we recommend to leave early in the morning, since the minibus does not go to the late hours, and there are no hotels and a hotel in Sharovka.
