The National Aerospace University “KhAI” is the leading educational institution of Ukraine which trains the specialists in aviation and space engineering. The university was founded in 1930 and back then had only two departments of aircraft construction and motor construction. The impetuous growth of the university was interrupted by World War II. It was evacuated to Kazan and after the end of the war the university was returned back to Kharkov.

 

The university was constantly developing. In 1953 was built wind tunnel and opened radio-technical department. In 1960th was opened a research laboratory where impact sources of energy in industry were studied. Also in this period students design office started its work. This progressive institution had already created more than 30 models of airplanes.

 

When in 1991 Ukraine gained its independence, National Aerospace University "KhAI" became the only educational institution in the country which was able to train the specialist in the airspace sphere. In 1992 the university started training of foreign students, created departments of economics and management. Also in that time students got the opportunity to learn such integrated program complexes as CAD/CAM/CAE: UNIGRAFICS, ADEM, EUCLID and other.
During the years of its hard work the National Aerospace University “KhAI” had trained more than 53000 engineers. Close connections with industry is the main distinguishing feature of the university.

 

The National Aerospace University “KhAI” participates in the International Space program ﾓAlfaﾔ and some other scientific programs together with the USA, Germany, Mexico, Japan, Netherlands and China.
The 21st century is the era of rapid development of aviation and cosmonautics. Scientists and teachers of the university are looking into the future with optimism and confidence. They are ready to solve any problem time may offer.
