Flu In Kharkov

People, stop this panic!

Last  week (30 Oct 2009) it was announced about flu epidemic in Ukraine. You can find plenty of information online about this awful scam. All the drug-stores are full of people. Next day there already was nothing in drug-stores - even simple Vitamin C. Poor grandmas spent their last money for "anti-flu" medicine, gauze masks, antibiotics etc etc.

All the TV channels and newspapers felt necessary to make a show/write a warning article about people who "were dying from flu". All "savers" had different numbers of people who died, different diagnoses, different time and age. First it was pneumonia epidemic, then flu. Now it is swine flu though there are NO cases of people who would have swine flu.

What is the reason for the mess? Presumably,

Political interest. Emergency situation is the only way for current president to cancel elections and keep the post. As we say here, "elections and flu are not compatible". Also, "it is not swine but political flu.

Financial - swine flu vaccine costs a lot and you will pay the price to stay alive, will not you?

Pharmacy industry is not even discussed.

People are wearing gauze masks on streets in hope that it will protect themselves from flu. It is a pity that gauze mask doesn't protect from ignorance. I noticed that those were mostly foreigners wearing masks - and I understand their fear to get sick in a foreign country; I understand that they have only information coming from news abroad, from news in their language. And I doubt that the press in any other country can see/analyze/explain what is going on in Ukraine. All they know - what official sources of information say.

Finally somebody with sound brain and proper education explained the mess around:

“There is no swine flu in Kharkov” say kharkov local officials in order to calm the citizens. Nevertheless people take by storm drugstores where you will not find even the most primitive antivirus preparations. Nowadays almost each drugstore in Kharkov is decorated with inscriptions like “We don’t have masks and oxalic ointment!”. That is why many residents of our city make protective masks by themselves from gauze and bandages.

Physicians claim that morbidity rates are even less in 2 times in comparison with the average rates of autumn. According to the chief medical officer of district sanitary service Sergey Savenkov, it was registered 5141 cases of acute respiratory disease in Kharkov region. All educational institutions are put in quarantine for three weeks.
